New York Irish History Roundtable member, Bill Twomey, has published his fourth book. The third volume in the Images of America series is entitled "South Bronx" ($19.99) and details the history of that locale over the past century, in 230 photographs. It was released in July 2002 by Arcadia Publishing. Other volumes in that series are "East Bronx" ($18.99) and "Throggs Neck and Pelham Bay" (sold out; publisher is considering a reprint). Tom Phelan, a member of our Irish Cultural Society, has published his latest novel, The Canal Bridge, a story of Irish men serving in the British army during World War I. Tom Hennessey has written several wonderful books mostly with an Irish theme. Two of his books would fall under the category of humor: The Awakening of John O'Connor and Shakespeare was an Irishman. He has a touching mainstream book called The Old Man, and two children's books, Mister Hyde and Jack McGinity and his Goat. He also has a science fiction book available called Beyond the Planet Pluto. |
